This was an essay I did on bridges around New York. The elevator going up to the arch of the tower wasn't working that day, so I climbed the cable to get to the top of the tower. Since then, I've covered the start of the New York City Marathon from this position a number of times. This is a very peaceful spot. Atop the tower there's no wind. The wind hits the sides of the tower and goes straight up. It's like being in a room with no walls. Spectacular view. I've been fortunate to be able to go up with the crews a number of times when they've changed lightbulbs or did general maintenance, just to chill.
