Greetings. I'm Jim Cummins. Photographer,
Videographer & Consultant. I've been taking photos professionally for 56 years. I work in 3 areas of Photography. Music, Sports
& Journalism. Some of the companies
I've worked for are: Newsweek, Black Enterprise, ESPN, Atlantic,
Columbia, Capital, Mercury London Records, New York Times, The Washington Star,
New York Newsday, NASL, NBA, Seton Hall, Stevens Institute of Technology,
Columbia University, John Jay College, St. Barnabas Medical Center & Bell
Labs. I started taking pictures when I was 8 years old. My Father encouraged me to take pictures even though I was an art student. I
spent 11 years in various art schools starting with the Museum of Modern Art,
the Art Students League, the High School of Music & Art and the School of
Visual Arts. An art background has helped me greatly in Photography.
(Composition, color, lighting, etc). My influences in Photography were the best: Pop, Meyer Kling, Bernie Gotfryd, Larry Fried,
Henri Dauman, Hiro and Alfred Eisenstaedt. I was very fortunate to have these
influences because they represented various areas of Photography, from
Journalism, Portraiture, Fashion, Entertainment. I've also worked as an Art Director and Editor (Picture & Assigning).
